The former USCG WMEC166 TAMAROA (nee USS ZUNI ATF 95) is now at Norfolk, Va., for a
much-needed drydock and hull inspection/cleaning. This is gonna take a few thousand dollars for
monthly dockage charges and the work to be done. Soon TAMAROA will make it to her final home port
near Richmond, Va.
In order to raise a few extra buckaroos for the work, I am offering some of my hand-made nautical
jewelry and a very nice style of Boatswain's Lanyard by way of a premium for your donations.
All monies after expenses will be sent to the Tamaroa Maritime Fund.
If there is something special you'd like made up (belts, etc.), please don't hesitate to email me and
ask about 'em.
I am offering four items, at prices well below my normal retail:
Earring sets of coloured or white nylon line, lapel/dress pins which match the earrings, sets of pins
and earrings and Boatswain's Lanyards, which double as very convenient key lanyards as well.
Payments may be made via PayPal or by check (PayPal preferred... that way you can use a credit card)
but if you'd prefer to send a check, email me for the address.
Please feel free to use the email link for any questions you may have, or you can email Bill Doherty or
Harry Jaeger if you're at all unsure as to the legitimacy of this page/offer.
The Earrings: $45.00/pair
The earrings and the pins are made in the fashion of a
ten-point starknot of coloured nylon 1.4mm cord. They are
mirrored construction and come with either silver or gold
shepherd's crook earwires. These can easily be replaced with
your own favourite earwires, should you wish to do so.
The Star Knot was the true test of a sailor's knotting skills in
the days of sail, usually made in a five-point version which
held the lanyards in the deadeyes which tensioned and
supported the main rigging that held the mast in place.
An example of this may be seen aboard the USS Constellation
(also in the Baltimore inner-harbour) as well as aboard the USS
Constitution in Boston.
These are between the size of a dime and a quarter for all
colours other than pink: the pink ones are the size of a quarter.

The Pins: $28.50 @
Built to match the earrings, these are a doubled star-knot and
are mounted directly to a 3" lapel pin. When ordred as a set,
the pins and ear wire colours will match.
Order a set: $65.00/set
One lapel pin and one pair earrings.
Boatswain's Lanyards (as shown) $165.00
these are 17-strand "French" braided sennit neckpiece
lanyards intended for either "dress" or "working" use.
They are available in several variations and any neck loop
size you may desire, simply email me for instructions on
measuring yourself for one.
The 17-strand French braid is mirrored from the top-point of
the neckpiece so as to be symmetrical down to the
breastplate connexion. These connexions and the splice
cover for the call loop can be the same colour, contrasting
colours or varigated colours. Again, you have but to ask.
The top left lanyard is dark blue with maroon
detailing, suitable for a Summer Dress
inspection lanyard OR a working lanyard.
The Bottom left is the exact opposite
colour-scheme.
White lanyards for Winter Dress use can be
suppiled all in white or with contrasting detail
work.
The basic neckpiece sennit can also be
modified for use as a camera strap at a small
additional cost.
Again, please use the email link to enquire.
